 – Samsung Electronics has set an industry world record for upload speed using 5G mobile communication technology.

Minapim by Hernan Valenzuela: The Samsung 5G upload technology demonstration was held in Plano, Texas, in collaboration with mobile communications company Verizon and wireless technology company Qualcomm, recording a data upload speed of 711 Mbps.

For this demonstration, Samsung Electronics’ 28GHz band 5G base station, 2.1GHz band 4G base station, and virtualization core (vCore) were used. Speed was measured.

The Snapdragon® X65 5G Modem-RF System (Snapdragon® X65 5G Modem-RF System) is Qualcomm’s fourth-generation 5G wave RF modem system used in smartphones, mobile broadband, computers, XR, industrial IoT, 5G private networks and fixed wireless access.

At this speed, a 1GB video can be loaded in about 10 seconds and data can be streamed twice as fast as before. You can record HD video anytime, anywhere in real time and upload it to the cloud or social media.

In addition, high-capacity data sharing and high definition video conferencing can be easily performed, which is useful in a telecommuting environment.

In addition, as it is possible to upload high-resolution images, it is expected to be widely used in 5G services for companies, such as the detection of defective products in the production process through image analysis artificial intelligence (AI) technology. .

This fast upload is made possible by the introduction of a technology (carrier aggregation) that uses two or more frequency bands together in Samsung Electronics Millimeter Wave Compact Macro equipment, doubling the existing 200 MHz upload bandwidth and using multiple antennas. This is because multiple inputs / outputs ( MIMO technology) that are used simultaneously is applied.

“Through this high-speed upload demonstration in cooperation with Verizon and Qualcomm, we’re one step closer to realizing differentiated 5G service and an immersive user experience,” said Junhee Lee, vice president of the development team for Samsung Electronics’ network business. “Lead several 5G technology innovations that will drastically transform the communication environment of companies and businesses. ”

“We are accelerating our investment in MillimeterWave as an important, differentiated service that can deliver new experiences and solutions to subscribers and businesses, while ensuring 5G mid-band coverage,” said Adam Koppe, executive vice president of technology planning, Verizon . “We have built over 30,000 millimeter wave base stations so far and plan to further expand our investment in the future,” he said.

Durga Malladi, senior vice president and general manager of 5G at Qualcomm said: “The improvement in upload speed has shown new possibilities of the 5G millimeter wave for use in transit centers, downtown areas, malls and high-speed Internet services.”

For “Samsung Electronics, the collaboration with Verizon is an excellent example of the omnidirectional effort to commercialize the 5G mmWave service and ensure a new user experience.”
