– The Falling Walls Foundation, highlights as one of the obvious lessons learned from the Corona crisis the need for scientific advances.

Minapim by Hernan Valenzuela: For the Falling Walls team, giving up on your mission is therefore not an option: it is possible to meet again safely in person or by virtual means to discuss advances in science and society. Therefore, it is important to keep the dates of the annual meetings on the calendar:
The Falling Walls Berlin events from 8 to 9 November 2020 and Berlin Science Week between 1 and 10 November 2020 will be held.

The meetings are in close coordination with partners and relevant authorities working to find the best possible solutions. The nearly 100 events that will take place in the coming months worldwide as part of the Falling Walls Lab, Falling Walls Venture and Falling Walls Engage, are being monitored with local partners and deciding on the best form of action and safety, on a case-by-case basis.

Digital meetings could be adopted in the coming weeks using the best technology available to guarantee the success of the events. Precaution is Falling Walls’ preference over the current scenario. The next steps of the Young Entrepreneurs in Science program are in the process of being coordinated with regional partners.

To help slow the spread of the virus, most of the team is working from home, this is the reason for the delay in this release.

About the Foundation

The Falling Walls Foundation is a non-profit organization based in Berlin. The foundation creates international and interdisciplinary platforms and networks through its Annual Conference, which asks each year on the anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall: Which walls will fall next?

At the conference, 20 leading researchers from around the world present their latest advances in the natural sciences, humanities, business and technology to an audience of around 700 decision makers and innovators in politics, research, industry and civil society.

The Foundation also organizes the Berlin Science Week, which takes scientists from institutions around the world to Berlin from 1 to 10 November. Another initiative is the Young Entrepreneurs in Science program, which trains doctoral researchers to translate their research into a potential business idea.

The Foundation is supported by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers, Robert Bosch Stiftung and the Berlin Senate, as well as numerous national and international research institutions, foundations and companies.
